Actual Sightings of One-Handed Backhands in the Wild!

By @erktennis: Mpetshi Perricard (20 years old) and Musetti (22) are currently fighting it out in Stuttgart. I reckon it must've been at least a few years since we had a lower combined age of two one-handers playing each other.

This is indeed the first all-1HBH match with combined age under 43 since 2021 Lyon (Tsitsipas-Musetti). Youngest combined age in recent years was 2018 AO, Shapo (18) vs Stef (19). That was the youngest since '03 Marseille, Gasquet (16) vs Feli Lopez (21).

Perricard a very intriguing player. 6'8" with a great serve, and a very good athlete. He could certainly make some noise on grass.

For anyone interested, here are 11:25 minutes of highlights of the two singletons plus Murray and Berrettini on YouTube

Only a pair of singletons could produce results this unusual.

Per Jeff Sackman, Tennis Abstract; "Musetti beat Mpetshi Perricard in Stuttgart today by the unusual score of 7-6(9) 7-6(9). That's the most tiebreak points played in a two-set match on grass (data back to 1991), and just the second time on any surface that both sets went to 9-all in the breaker.
