Fonseca's forehand may be the next giant shot. Very relaxed motion with a bigtime "flip". Couldn't find any slo-mo videos.

I hear you on that Seano. There are certainly no shortage of irritating tennis analysts, youtube or otherwise. That being said, I think Hugh was on point on his take on Fonseca. He is the real deal. His forehand is the talking point, but his backhand is showing signs to me of being in the Novak Sinner area. His mentality and movement is there also. He and GMP look like they could really start to rack up some Majors. I am very eager to see what Fonseca does at RG. And for that matter the 1000's, Monte Carlo, Madrid, and Rome.I've never been a fan of this guys videos but it fits the subject matter.

Jason Frausto of Tennis Unleashed on Joao Fonseca's forehand. This has been a popular subject, as of late.

he also has a pretty big serve. His forehand however, is insanely good. It seems he can hit a winner from any where on the court, even off his back foot. It looks like opponents are returning a first serve, when Joao's is hitting his forehand. Some top players just seem over powered by it. Case in point, Ethan Quinn vs. Joao in recent challenger final, where Joao won it.Last edited by neilchok; 01-06-2025, 07:19 AM.Comment

The sheer power is hard to appreciate on TV. There were two round robin matches (perhaps Tien (lefty) and Fils, maybe? ) where Joao seemed to be losing crosscourt forehand rallies, so he switched to blasting it right up the middle and drew errors.he also has a pretty big serve. yeah so true. I saw Grigor courtside at an ATP 250 event, and his slice is so amazing, TV does not do it justice. The same with Novak's kick second serve at Indian wells. I could understand why Roger had so much trouble returning that. I could not imagine seeing Joao courtside.Comment
