Doug King and the Volley

The art of the forehand and backhand volley is going to be reinvented by the bold. I liked Doug’s explanation of the volley groundstroke and his mobility to get down to the ball but a conservative play must be placed accurately just to extend the point ; Hoping if Doug ,Rod Laver or Pete Sampras could demonstrate a forehand roll and a backhand volley line drive.

I agree with what he is saying that the volley is a stroke involving a backswing and a follow through. I don’t understand why this hasn’t been researched and taught more although there is definitely a variation the pros use with the racket started in front. Would really appreciate more work done on the variations of say Federer vs Rafter forehand volley styles. What effect has poly had on the volley stroke?
