    Evidence of How Much Coaches Matter Even at Top Pro Levels

    Granted, this is one lonely data point, but the correlation is pretty clear.

    An old statistics joke: "Correlation may not prove causation but they tend to happen at the same time."

    Elena's coach was suspended { long story, complaints from others - not her -- that he was abusive to her } comes back and she ends the year the hottest player on the tour. Steamrolled Iga with a bagel, and over-powered Aryna {Yes, that's not one of my typos}.

    There is a long list,, I suspect, of coaches that got in the way of a pro player's performance. Defining successful coaching principles is difficult to define at the pro level because coaching becomes more of an art than a science at that level.
