Darren Cahill on What Makes a Good Coach

A 14 minute video on You Tube by Tennis Insider Club { Caroline Garcia & a frenchman I don't know} with Darren Cahill. Worth a look/listen IMHO (as a non-coach tennis fan). Not sure when this was done. Tennis coaching has three faces: Tactical, Technical and emotional. "If a coach tells he's good at all three, run for the hills. Nobody is."

Also, "You've got four years".

The parts about convincing Agassi to change tactics and Andre being bummed out when he won easily but "didn't play well", as well as Cahill failing with Halep because he was being upbeat, when she need someone to suffer with her. Great.

That’s a great find. Darren’s coaching style has always appealed to me. He’s very honest and a good role model for any aspiring coach. His story about switching from coaching men to Simona Halep was amusing. At his age, he should know by now women are nowhere near as direct as men; you have to do some detective work before you realise what the bloody hell you’ve said or done wrong!
