    ITF Advanced Coaches Manual

Has anyone read this book? If so, is it worth buying as a club player interested in learning more about technique but not coaching?

i've read that one and thought it was great however I felt it could have used more details on the actual stroke techniques. Oddly I've read online articles by Bruce Elliott which had more detail regarding groundstrokes.

How does the advanced coaches manual compare?

        Hi,
the following chapters will be of interest to u:
        Advanced stroke techniques
        Technical diagnosis and correction
        Movement

The rest is about coaching, nutrition, injury prevention, etc

I used the advanced stroke techniques chapter
when one of my students had to convert from a western forehand grip to
        a semi-western grip.
It was useful for me but I cannot make a decision whether it will
        be useful for you.
For example the manual you asked about descibes 3 forehands:
        eastern,semi-western and western.
Pictures are NOT very good but you may supplement them
watching videos ( see my PS as well).
I will try to provide couple of references to articles of tennisplayer in couple
of days.At this moment I cannot do it because the search engine does
        NOT work for me.
I meant an article by Robert Lansdorp about forehand-
a part about followthrough is very interesting.
The foundation of the forehand is the grip. One of the biggest problems in American junior tennis is the poor foundation so many young players have because of their extreme grips. Under the handle, extreme western grips are incredibly common in high level junior tennis. Kids have great success early in their careers because they...

Another article by JY about comparing stances
for forehand is interesting as well
Open stance in pro tennis: what does it really mean? One of the most obvious commonalities in the modern forehand is the open stance. If you look through a few hundred forehand files in the Stroke Archive, you'll see that around 80% of pro forehands are hit with some version of an open stance. A...

The ITF manual has some comments about Becker using eastern forehand
        grip for SERVE.
        On a personal note:
I buy books even if I can only use a portion of them.
I am NOT sure whether I am helping you.
Please keep me posted whether you need more details.
If u could be specific which articles by Bruce Elliot u have
on mind I would apreciate it

        regards,

PS The book entitled World-class Tennis Technique maybe of some help as well
        especially a chapter about forehand.
Watching slow motion videos explain some points addresed in the book
        mentioned above.
I watched Dementieva,Ivanovic,Jankovic and Patty Schyder.
Some uspta videos at www.uspta.org ( please find a shop section)
could be of help as well.
An uspta certification manual would be of interest as well
