John, is a unit turn concept valid for the serve? That is start by turning your shoulders?

          Phil,

I think you can use the shoulder turn as a key, but I wouldn't call it a unit turn. First you have got the rhythm rocking motion and also independent hand and arm motion happening before the body turn.

Remember that the body turn tends to happen naturally depending on the line of the stance. See Roger:

          https://www.tennisplayer.net/tp_player/roger-federer/

But it's all about finding feelings. When I first added a more Fed like stance and started to turn off the ball I would visualize my shoulders turning onto the line of the stance. I still can imagine that feel!

            Newcombe...

Phil's question was timely for me as I was watching Newcombe just recently and notice how beautifully he turns into his serve. I understand the serve isn't initiated at the very outset by a unit turn for the reasons you stated, but with a server like Newcombe you can be drawn into the idea that some sort of a unit turn is taking place after the preliminaries.

Alex, for an iPad there is an app called "Rotate & Flip" which allows you to do just that on videos...

Thanks Phil. I don't flip but maybe I should. Anybody else on a simple solution here?

I need to correct the racket drop on this serve correct? I think so but I just want to make sure before I do anything.

Also do you have any advice for my forehand? I would guess maybe stay on the ground more and try to get weight forward instead of backward. Perhaps a bit more shoulder rotation. Just to let you know my forehand has gotten so so so much better. I think extending thru the shot was key like you said.

                            Thanks!
