Now that is a loaded question! There is a history of animosity from Wegner and his disciples toward myself and Tennisplayer. He has attacked me personally on Forums and in letters to people in many of the governing organizations. He has shown tremendous dishonesty. He is a devout scientologist and if you know anything about that you know they (and he) believe difference of opinion must be supressed.

I know a lot of people have results with his stuff. Right on. But some of it is just crazy. Prepare after the bounce, etc etc. Years ago we published an article of his on Tennisone--probably the only time I did something with a coach I regret. We couldn't find video that corresponded with his theories and the whole thing turned ugly and ridiculous.

As for Tim, his system is aimed at high performance at the highest levels. And I would agree most kids would be lost. Simpler is better. Fun is better. Fun in fact is the whole thing. It makes me realize I have never really written about how I used to run my junior camps for average kids ages 4-12. And it wasn't by exploring internal shoulder rotation... I should get around to that! Although I am not an expert the colored ball system seems to be redressing the balance for average kids. Let's face it usta competition is toxic. The vast majority of kids never play a second tournament. And I agree we've got young players and old players and far less in the middle!

John...is there any possibility to get more space for titles for threads? Currently we are limited to 85 or 95 characters.

I can check. Or you could just bold it in the first line?

Didn't know any of that. Very interesting-radical church nuts scare the heck out of me. Sorry you got ambushed by him that way. I think his system is a good beginning and once those basics are ingrained, you just kind of automatically move into 'unit turn' etc. my kids did.

              KW,
Yeah and there are still occasional flareups. I like the wild wild west of the TW Message boards and run into some of those guys there. All good. I learned a lot from the whole thing.

                John -

Can you give examples of which pro's best demonstrate, Brian Gordon's idea of keeping the hitting arm "just shy" of trophy position on the serve at the start of leg drive?

Actually it won't work as you must put a title in when you open a new thread. It would be nice to add 30 or so characters to the length of the title. Just in case. I tend to be a bit wordy at times.

What are the factors that influence where the racket finishes on a sliced backhand? In these two clips, one finishes with the racket tip pointing at the sky; the other pointing horizontal. I have seen plenty of Roger's where his racket tip finishes pointing at the ground. Why is that?

Great questions. I addressed that in this series:

Fascinating....thanks John. With club I always teach to finish with the tip well above the hand. It's always worked well in the past. A few students question this of course when they see clips of Federer.

Yeah tell them he has the perfect finish for derotating 4000rpms of topspin.

What is the difference between a chop and a slice? The first video is a slice where the racquet head follows through the path of the ball. The second video is a chop and he virtually intersects the path of the ball at one point with his racquet head.

A matter of degree. How much downward versus through.
