Another interesting find. Didn't know Redford was Pancho fan. A question, however...you're just the man who might know
On Wikipedia it was stated that in interview shortly before his death, Pancho recalled playing Bjorn Borg when Borg was 18 yrs old and beating him 6-1 6-1. It was a dubious claim because Borg would have to have been 15 at the time as many people were quick to calculate - Pancho claimed to be 43 when they played.
I recently noticed that section of the Wikipedia article has been removed - rightly so, being as the claim cannot be factually correct.
Do you, or anyone else, know anything about this alleged tennis game/match between Borg and Pancho? It would be so interesting to get to the bottom of the claim.StottyComment

Found the original removed version from the Wikipedia edit archives. I was slightly wrong in my stats. Gonzales says he was 42 (not 43) when he played Borg.
It now seems confirmed they did play when Gonzo was 44, Borg 16.
Scroll to the bottom to "Gonzales's views of other players as of 1995". Interesting viewpoints he had.

Awesome read
The Wikepedia article is an awesome read, not just on Gonzales, but also on the barnstorming pro tour of the 50s and early 60s. Wow!Found the original removed version from the Wikipedia edit archives. I was slightly wrong in my stats. Gonzales says he was 42 (not 43) when he played Borg.
