Grip Combinations for the Return of Serve

There has not been a lot of coverage about the grip combinations for the return of serve. Specifically, it would be interesting to get an idea about the different styles. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Funny you should ask...Bobby Bernstein from the USTA is working on an article about returns. What he sees is this. Two-handers tend to wait with their non-dominant hand in the grip they use on their two-hander. Their dominant hand is in the forehand grip. If they get a backhand, they then change the grip on the dominant hand.

One-handers wait with the opposite hand on the throat and either the forehand (more commonly) or the backhand grip. Some players such as Federer or Sampras have a less extreme forehand grip in this position. Others will also do this but only when they want to chip.
