    Strong two-handed backhand grip?

I'm wondering a little about backhand grips and wanted to know if there are any experts or otherwise in here who would advice against using a too strong grip with the bottom hand? Considering the scale commonly used here at tennisplayer i think i'm about a 1.5(index)/1(heelpad) with the bottom hand. i guess i'm bent/straight with the arms.

Reading the articles on two-handers, it seems that placing the index knuckle on 2 or weaker is the way to go if we consider the pros with the best two-handers. However, this feels kind of awkward to me, and i think a shift would bring some trouble. I understand that one shoulden't get too hung up about grips as you can use different combinations. I just want to know if there is a bias with some grip choices that hinders your backhand from ever becoming top noch. I feel that a stronger grip promotes more topspin and that maybe a good two-hander is consistent with a more flatter stroke? And maybe you are a little bit more flexible with a weaker grip?

    Thanks!

    Roartt,

You have probably seen this article.

But yeah with a bent straight config a stronger grip shouldn't be a problem and may be an advantage since the role of the bottom arm is more pronounced usually. I wouldn't worry about the grip shift. That takes a fraction of a second and is a very small distance.

Is there one two-handed backhand--or are there four? I had always believed that the two-handed backhand was the simplest shot in tennis, like a left handed forehand, but without all the confusing differences in grips and finishes. I've spent a lot of time on the court teaching the stroke that way, and I've written about...

      Thank you John!

By the way, do you know of any pros who puts their index knuckle completely on top (bevel 1) for a two-handed backhand? Or is that more a thing of the past?
