I love when articles leave us with more questions than what it answered. Nice work from Brian and although it seems basic it's a topic that is often overlooked. The proper sequence of the body parts and optimizing the muscles for the shot. Hmmm. Knowing how to use the body is a nice trick, knowing how to use the body in the proper sequence for maximum efficiency takes it to the next level.

How much, if any of this, are the players actually aware of? Probably not.

Is it a natural occurrence that great athletes just execute or is there a conscious effort early in the developmental process that allows them to understand and apply without thinking? This article is great for tennis geeks like us, how can we apply and implement it to our everyday students? Looking forward to the next article from Dr. Gordon.

It would be a terrible mistake for a player with a one hand topspin backhand therefore not to be immediately attracted to this article which continues Brian's discussion of principles that apply to anybody's forehand as well as to the other strokes.
