The moment your opponent hits the ball.

Yea your feet hit the groud when the ball is hit.

I'd rather be in the air as the ball is struck, landing a split second later, moving in the direction of the oncoming ball. And it's not so much a split step anymore as a balancing move.

Going from the pro strokes they seem to land as the ball is struck.

I am quite tall and really need to bend my legs more I think.
