Does Federer prefer to hit with the tip of his racket?

Here is some very clear slow motion footage of Federer:

Most of you have probably seen this as it is very popular. But I have not seen any comments on the fact that Federer seems to hit a majority of balls at spot only a few inches from the tip.

May be Wilson asked him to minimize damge to the "W" painted on his racket, and Federer felt he needed a challenge . The ball rarely touches the "W" here.

I think this is true for many players hitting topspin. It gets you more speed at impact. It is also the case for the serve. Impact is towards the tip, not the sweet spot. Only hackers need the sweet spot...
