User settings error

Am not able to modify settings. Get reset back. For example, I want to set 10 pages displayed when I open a thread, but, though I save changes, it gets set back to forum default. Think this might explain why I can not access long threads.

No miracle John, I can change the parameter, when I hit save, it is back to the original value...

John, I found a workaround. I no longer click on the thread name, but on the name of the last user to post. This takes me to his page, and from there I can click further to get to the tread...
