Maybe the GS count would not have been inflated as much and the younger players would actually have a chance.

As it stands today...if the players were using wooden racquets this would be the thing that would throw all the advantage to Roger Federer. He alone has the game to play the all court game with a Dunlop Maxply Fort strung with Victor Superb gut strings. Just imagine Wimbledon 2021 with Federer all decked out in Wimbledon white playing with that Dunlop Fort. Advantage Roger Federer.

Just forget anything that Rafael Nadal says. He has absolutely zero concerns for the history of the game or the integrity for that matter. He has been the most "progressive" tennis player out there. The clam diggers, the sleeveless shirts and the endless bouncing of the ball. Roger on the other hand has in the past made mention that it is too bad that they don't play with the wood any longer. Aha, so it would have helped! Federer's knee needed one more tweak before the next Wimbledon run. He just did not look right lately and it could not be age since two years ago he was on fire.

Let's not make too many excuses for Roger. He's doing pretty well for a 38 year-old. They give him a gilded draw every slam he plays in, which certainly helps, plus the best scheduling possible, often at the expense of some starving minnow (ask Dan Evans). Ultimately I am not sure the favouritism helps. He didn't play anyone in the top 40 in Australia until the semi, where he then had to play Novak and was routinely dispatched. No matter how good the draw, sooner or later he has to bump into Novak either in the semi or the final and that usually spells the end.

Roger is the money spinner. Sponsors and tournament organisers are utterly desperate to keep him in the draw as long as possible. Next thing you know they will be spiking Novak's drinks to bring about the result they want. I wouldn't put it past them, would you?
