Interesting thoughts on Medvedev serve. It appears his serve toss location is not related to his serve direction, obviously making it impossible to read.

Hard to believe that toss spread is intentional. But maybe. In any case it's amazing he can pull off the locations with the different tosses.

I don't know about the variation in general, but I remember a match where Medvedev changed his toss deliberately. He was struggling a bit, so we went to the far-most right sideline on deuce court serves -- more extreme position than doubles players would take -- and tossed the ball way to his right telegraphing slice serves but the opponent couldn't return them effectively. Landed short in the box and slid off to the side seats.
