Ruud vs Sinner in a highest level match going on. The announcers just shared per Hawkeye, that thus far at 5-4 Ruud 1st set, Ruud is hitting his forehand at the highest MPH of any player this year in any tournament.

Sinner is doing a great job in soaking up Ruud and maintaining pressure here in the second set. He is serving so well too. The more I watch Sinner the more I think he could be the one that might break through and rise above the pack. He certainly knows how to play a solid match.StottyComment

The Jannik Sinner service motion is the story. He is learning more about it an a match to match basis. His tactics are just beginning to evolve. Splendid! Huge win for Alcarez in the bottom half at this stage of his career. Now if he can just get by Zverev and Sinner takes care of business up on top...we will see a glimpse of the future.Comment

His serve is good, his forehand is top shelf, effortless Fed like pop on it. His backhand and movement are also at the very top of the game. His mental side of the game is maybe the best out there after the big 3. It is almost as if he has taken a pieces of all the big 3's mental game.
Alcaraz and Zverev should be something. The Alcaraz forehand right there with Sinner. Not quite the effortless power of Sinner, but certainly one of the very best in men's tennis. Zverev's second serve could once again be put under the microscope.
Oddsmakers have Zverev as a very strong favorite to win vs Carlos, an implied probability of 80% of winning. Seems too strong to me but I am not an oddsmaker ha. Sinner played pretty much perfect tennis until serving for the match at 5-3 2nd set. He made some errors that game, got broken, and lost the set from there. Now in the 3rd set, it is a dog fight now.Comment

Tiafoe wins in 3, really the 3rd set without much drama. It was definitely the tale of 2 matches, from when Sinner failed to serve out the match in the 2nd. Tiafoe had an unusually high number of net approaches, which definitely was an impactful in match tactics change for him. Tiafoe now will play heavy favorite Zverev tomorrow. I can't help but feel this outcome only enhances his title chances here.Comment

Well, at just turned 20, Sinner isn't doing too bad. Stringing one good match after another is his next hurdle in life. I have the feeling he'll learn to do it. I love his temperament. It's his game I find a little bland.
Alcaraz, though amazing, is sometimes 'all game and no brain'. He needs both to truly succeed on the epic scale of his fellow countryman.StottyComment

Incredible match between Sinner/Tiafoe. Unfortunately for Sinner, as soon as he joined in the fun, he lost. For me, the watershed was somewhere near the end of the second set when Tiafoe approached wide to Sinner backhand, then hit very good volley wide to Sinner forehand which looked for all the world like a winner and yet Sinner whipped it low crosscourt for screaming winner. Tiafoe feigned incredulity at the net and Sinner smiled back. It was downhill from there.Comment
