    French Open

Today is the first round of the main draw at Stade Roland Garros. Djokovic, Zverev, Andreeva, Kostyuk, Frtiz (back from injury) among those on court today. As expected, Arthur Fils has pulled out with a hip injury.

Bookmakers' odds give Jannik Sinner an implied probability of winning of the French Open men's title of 75.61%. A note of caution: These are the second highest odds since 1990, topped only by Rafael Nadal (-400) in 2009 - when Rafa was upset in the fourth round by Sweden's Robin S?derling, leading to Fed's career slam.

On the women's side, Aryna Sabalenka's odds imply a winning probability of 28.57% vs Iga Swiatek's 26.67%

Here are the top 18 Men's and women's odds by DraftKings Sportsbook as of Friday. Odds vary by bookmaker and by day. Remember, the purpose of odds is not to pick the winner but to get you to bet. I hope this table formatting holds up in our forum. Fingers crossed. Yeah!

The draw looks pretty wide open now that Sinner has been dumped out. It's a shame for Sinner. That was a slam in the bag were it not for his inability to cope in extreme heat. Not sure how he can combat that going forward as it's clearly a weakness. Zverev, Ruud and Novak are being touted as the most likely to emerge potential winners...but it could be anyone's from here in my view.

Draw is certainly open. For the first time in the entire Open era there, we're in the round of 16 and not a single man that has won a prior major title is left.

Only top 10 players left are FAA and Zverev. Despite that, this French Open has made more good matches than usual. As Jim Courier noted emphatically, the Fonseca-Djokovic match was worthy of a final. Tremendous opportunity for the likes of Casper Ruud and Zverev to finally get that 'slam title. Or maybe it will be like Boris Becker at Wimbledon and a teen will blast his way through.

Exact opposite on the women's side with former major champs, French champs, galore. Plus, the last two big clay titles were won by players not even in the top 5: Svitolina and Kostyuk.

As for Sinner and the heat: Yes, if it was a Greek play a god would have decided Sinner was too perfect and gave him an achilles heel. But, remember, Novak Djokovic had lots of trouble with the heat early in his career. Novak's problem was apparently fixable with sinus surgery { or a slice of wheat bread pressed on his stomach, if you want to believe Novak's book}. Pete Sampras had issues ..... let's look this up: "Pete Sampras was impaired by thalassemia minor, an inherited blood disorder that causes mild to moderate anemia. The condition limits the blood's ability to transport oxygen, which significantly reduced his physical stamina and often caused fatigue during long matches and in hot weather." Pete had problems in the Davis Up and US open and that had some influence on his offensive style.

More than once, after faltering in the heat Sinner has mentioned not feeling sharp in the morning. Coincidence or symptom?
